In response to: More Praise For the Council Workers Who Keep Guildford’s Daily Life Running

One other thing that GBC staff are doing without fanfare is making phone calls to vulnerable people to check that they are okay and that they are receiving the assistance that they need.

Council officers have made hundreds upon hundreds of such phone calls and they are definitely making a difference; sadly, there have been cases where people have been found running out of food and without anyone to help them and it’s only been thanks to these phone calls that it’s been possible to get them the help they need.

The officers have been doing a fantastic job and they really are an absolute credit to our borough. In this crisis they’ve stepped up to meet the challenge without complaint and all of them are helping in some way irrespective of which department they work in. They all definitely deserve our thanks.

Editor’s note: With the help of GBC we hope to feature some of this kind of work next week.
