In response to a comment on: Guildford City FC Manager Quits Over Poor State of the Pitch at Spectrum Leisure Centre

The comment from Dave Fielding is unfair. Angela Richardson MP has attended the football club events, and is interested in helping the club, while no Lib Dem councillor ever has. Since the Lib Dem [and R4GV] administration four years ago, the council has been a complete shambles.

We don’t want ground sharing with over twenty-four teams, but we need our own ground where we can have training and pre-season friendly matches to prepare for the start of the season.

The club needs a good clubhouse for match days, social events, and committee meetings, instead of having to hire a room.

The football season starts the first Saturday in August, but we cannot use the Spectrum until after August 20. Obviously, this is unsatisfactory. At the end of the season this year we had to be out before it even finished and then hire Sheerwater ground to play Horley.

This is what a team representing Guildford, the county town of Surrey with a borough population of about 150,000. We have been struggling with this for the last 49 years.
