In response to: Parish Council Fails to Explain Councillors’ Six-month Absence
I’m no expert on Ash Parish Council but I’m quite mystified as to how these councillors could not possibly have fallen foul of the six-month rule.
Ever since the expiration of the temporary Covid regulations it has been quite clear that virtual attendance at any meeting of a council or of its committees does not count for the purposes of the six-month rule. Exemptions to this must be agreed by the council in a public meeting, which apparently has not happened.
If there is a separate rule which the parish council is relying upon to protect these councillors from being removed from office then perhaps they would be kind enough to make it public?
