Letter: If GBC Wants to Increase Car Park Charges At Least Make It Easy to Pay

This evening [March 3] we went to the cinema at the Odeon and parked in the multi-story car park opposite.

Neither of the payment machines were working on our floor. One was supposedly card only, but the instructions were totally incomprehensible. The other one spewed out any coins put in it and cards were not read.

I could not make head nor tail of what we should have done as there were no clear instructions. In the end, we left a note in the windscreen explaining our failure.

Fortunately, on our return to the car, we found that we had not been given a ticket. Many other cars parked there had not managed to achieve a parking permit either.

If GBC is so intent on extracting as much money as possible with the increase in charges in Guildford car parks then the least they can do is make it easy for people to actually pay.
