Letter: It Wasn’t Me Who Politicised the Debate

From Howard Smith

former Labour parliamentary candidate

In response to: Dragon Report Ignored Planning Grounds Comments on Walnut Bridge

I’m sorry Caroline Reeves feels I attempted to politicise the debate on Walnut Bridge but was her party chair, Ciaran Doran, who politicised the issue with his letter to The Dragon. He effectively said that councillors on the Planning Committee who voted to approve the bridge should be replaced with others who, in future, will listen to their constituents.

I made a brief comment on that letter that I thought it an extraordinary comment from the Lib Dem chair given that two Lib Dem councillors voted to approve.

Cllr Reeves might disagree and think it’s perfectly fine for people in the same party to not only have opposing views but to urge people to vote their colleagues out, but it wasn’t me who politicised the issue.
