Roger Kendall makes the same point that I have made in connection with the Wisley Airfield application (now under appeal).
If the developer’s stated intention is to “frustrate the motorist” – ignoring the impact on local businesses, emergency vehicles, buses and any future customers for their houses – those frustrated motorists are also likely to make less safe decisions and that is bad news for more vulnerable road users.
Even worse, if the appeal is upheld, the resulting development will be disastrous for local biodiversity which is also of national importance and attracts the highest level of conservation priority.
None of this mattered to those councillors at borough and county level who forced the Local Plan through despite their discredited “evidence”. Let’s hope the Lib Dems show more concern and integrity as they review the Local Plan.

The Lib Dems are insolently proud of having no policy at all on the Local Plan or development planning generally.
If, by some chance, I am wrong about this, then here’s an opportunity for their leader to explain to us mere residents clearly what their policy is.
