The torchlight procession in the High Street. Pictures by Harry Wickens.

Once again the Guildford public turned out in their thousands last Saturday (November 3) to support our Guildford Lions Club Charity Torchlight Procession and Fireworks Display, and we hope that everybody enjoyed a spectacular and, just as importantly, a safe evening’s entertainment

Some of the may people who took part in the procession.

The terrible events at Woking demonstrate all too vividly how things can go wrong and our thoughts and best wishes go out to all those unfortunate enough to be involved.

While some bills and income remains outstanding, we are delighted to announce that we are currently anticipating an expected profit of £12,000 from our event.

The superb fireworks display in Stoke Park.

Although down on last year’s result, it still represents a fantastic amount which will allow our Guildford Lions Welfare Committee to make a real difference to many local people and their families over the coming months.

Thank you once again for your brilliant support in making the evening such a fantastic community event.

Congratulations to all the Lions. They work so hard to raise funds for the community and they are all lovely people.
