In response to: The Guildford Dragon Leads the Way By Being Granted Charitable Status

The Guildford Dragon NEWS provides many valuable services to this local community, including:

  • local news that is not reported anywhere else;
  • a platform for the expression of the full range of moderated local opinion;
  • reasoned and evidence argument on all sides of local issues – such as local government finances and planning policies.

Most importantly it is:

  • cost-free to anyone with internet access;
  • independent of any organ of national or local government;
  • independent of any particular political campaigners or “activists”;
  • open, any member of the public who wants to contribute to a debate may do so subject to a minimum level of politeness.

Anyone who wishes to may visit the Guildford Borough Council website, the Surrey County Council website or the Surrey Advertiser [SurreyLive] website and compare. None of these organisations offer equivalent clear and transparent communication of issues of importance to local residents.

Anyone who wishes can go to the local websites of the national political parties. They will discover partisan propaganda and promotion not independent reporting of facts.

Long live The Dragon!

    Hear, hear! I am so glad it will continue giving the public up to day news and comment on local issues. I often mention The Dragon to people who may not have heard of it. Keep up the good work.

    Editor’s response: Many thanks but for our future to be assured we will now have to attract sufficient funding.
