In response to: Council Intends to Stop Non-Park & Ride Motorists Using Onslow Car Park
Absolute unremitting terminal blasted stupidity!
The car park, which is never anything like full, will be even less used and the people who park there from the hospital and the research park will be displaced onto the local roads, creating even more congestion and discouraging further those who might be tempted to use the park and ride service.
Why not make it a Park & Ride and and pay to park car park? £1.50 for park and ride and say £3.00 for all day pay to park parking?
That would generate some more income for the council and help ease congestion caused by parked cars around the surrounding area.
Ed: It is understood that conditions attached to the set up of the car park disallow non-Park & Ride parking.

“Ed: It is understood that conditions attached to the set up of the car park disallow non-Park & Ride parking.”
Then perhaps the Council and the University of Surrey, who apparently own the land, need to sit down and have a sensible conversation about the use of the car park and get that foolish restriction removed.

I agree. What a stupid idea to block motorists from this car-park which is fairly empty. Even a pound a day would raise income: a simple money in the slot to raise a barrier would be effective. In fact all the Park & Ride car-parks should adopt this system and help to pay for the fence and road repairs in the area.
