A public meeting under the title “Wisley Airfield Site – Challenge to a Dubious Decision” is to be held tomorrow, Monday, June 10, at 7.15pm at East Horsley Village Hall. The possibility of seeking a Judicial Review of the decision is to be discussed.

The planning inspector’s decision was not only disappointing, but it appears to have swept aside and overruled many of the facts presented by our experts against the Appeal. Her report also acknowledged errors and omissions by Taylor Wimpey’s experts but then disregarded these and accepted what appears to be inadequate evidence. Therefore, Wisley Action Group (WAG) and Villages Against Wisley New Town (VAWNT) have not taken the inspector’s decision lying down.

In fairness to the community, and to the conservation of the surrounding environment, the potential for a “second opinion” is being examined. This can be done by way of a judgement on the legality of the inspector’s decision at a Judicial Review (JR).

Analysis of the inspector’s report has been carried out and we are now only awaiting the final opinion of the Wisley Action Group’s barrister on whether to proceed. We now have just four of the six weeks left in which to request the JR and so a public meeting has been set up at the earliest opportunity.

After your mammoth efforts, and all that everyone in these villages has been through, this warrants everyone’s attention and local residents are urged to attend.

Please be there at 7.15pm on June 10 and circulate this message widely.

I am unable to attend, I hope it is a good meeting and further action can be taken in seeking a Judicial Review of the decision made by the Planning Inspector. I looked to the Cobham website for an update as soon as I read of the decision but there was nothing. May I also add that some of the content seemed rather out of date. I remain in support of the Wisley Action Group (WAG) and Villages Against Wisley New Town (VAWNT) in the continuing quest to find paths to object as effectively as possible.

    Thank you
