Letter: Public Amentity Sacrificed to Departmental Budgets

In response to: Tumbling Bay Weir – It’s Time For the National Trust to Respond

The consensus of the author and commentators appear to be in accord, in that the interested parties appear to be unable to work harmoniously to bring together a plan and a workable financial solution to replace the towpath at the Tumbling Bay weir.

This is a sad situation but, as is so often the case these days, the problem is the creation of the “bean counters”.

The asset that was once a riverside path and a pleasant feature of this part of the town is seemingly to be sacrificed on the altar of departmental/ organisations’ budget protection.

This phenomenon is an all too prevalent and regrettable fact of modern-day life.
