Doreen and Bill Bellerby

I think a statue in Millmead would be a fitting tribute to a couple who devoted their lives to Guildford and had such an impact on the town.

The suggested site, lying between the council offices and the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, is perfect.

Regrettably there are a significant number of social inadequates who take great delight in vandising private and public property, public art and memorials in public places. I fear that the area between the Yvonne Arnaud and the council offices, which is poorly lit and has low footfall at night, is not a safe place for a statue to Mr Bellerby.

To my mind, a better place would be the High Street near the Guildhall or, perhaps under Tunsgate Arch.

Statue of Bill and Doreen Bellerby would be very fitting . They helped all the people in Guildford in so many ways.
