Letter: Surrey Is Greatly Overpopulated As It Is

Wisley Airfield Plan

Former Wisley Airfield

From Hazel Barker

In response to: The Council Is Playing A Double Game Over Proposed Housing at Wisley

It would spell disaster for the people living in the local surrounding areas if the proposed 2,000 extra homes were built on the former Wisley Airfield. The site is not suitable in my opinion for housing, as there is not any infrastructure earmarked to cope with the extra congestion around the A3/M25 junction.

There will also be a lack of doctors, dentists, schools, and so on.

The amount of properties that have been built and the proposed developments for the area is far greater than the need.

The only people to benefit from these housing developments are the developers themselves. They probably don’t live in the area and wouldn’t want to, so probably don’t care about those people that do.

Surrey is greatly overpopulated as it is. Driving around Surrey is an unpleasant experience, in particular, the M25/A3 Junction.

In my opinion, all proposed housing developments should be put to bed, once and for all. Let us breathe again and not get so stressed about the growing population and traffic queues.

I agree entirely with Hazel Barker but how do we stop the building madness? The politicians don’t help. Basically it all goes back to the failure to control immigration and it affects many other towns in England.

Local councils are still working to the Local Plan. I wonder if that will change after March 29th?

Obviously the GBC leadership knows that Guildford alone in Surrey is not overpopulated, as in its ‘wisdom’ it believes that the borough can sustain another 13,000 homes, 50,000 new residents and their Chelsea tractors.
