Letter: Thank You to Our Councillors for Attempting the Impossible

In response to: R4GV and GGG Hope to Avoid GBC Election Contests While Member Crosses Floor

May I, as a very vocal resident of Guildford borough “looking in” at GBC, thank all our borough councillors for their dedication to the public cause during this election cycle.

With Covid and the lack of infrastructure along with ill-thought-out major projects, forced on them by the previous administration, projects that have been in the dustbin of failure for years, they have had a difficult job.

Councillors have had difficult choices to make and, dare I say, made wrong ones, in my personal opinion or, it could be said, had no choice.

So their dedication to try and do the impossible is admirable and I thank them all for their efforts.

I hope the new team, when elected, will have the wisdom to cancel Weyside Urban Village before the loss exceeds £60 million and that the North Street scheme is corrected to meet the basic requirements of future travel needs.
