See: The Guildford Dragon Leads the Way By Being Granted Charitable Status

I was pleased to read that The Guildford Dragon was granted charitable status.

This is a particularly reassuring piece of news, as it not only gives some hope to local, independent news outlets, but also because The Dragon has established yet another first for Guildford.

I want to take this opportunity to congratulate you, Hugh [Coakley], and all your other reporters, as well as to commend you for your patience during what must have been a long and untested process.

Establishing a precedent is very satisfying, however, we often forget how trying it can be.

As you take The Dragon further, as a well-respected local institution, with its new charitable status, I trust that the people of Guildford will continue to support you in your endeavours, as they have done so far.

I hope that The Dragon will remain a local staple for a very long time indeed.

Can I too take this opportunity to thank the whole team at The Guildford Dragon NEWS, for creating and maintaining this wonderful local publication.

I’m so glad that The Dragon has been awarded with the charitable status accolade now, even though the publication has been in circulation since 2012. I guess the best things come to those who wait and they are indeed worthy of it.

My only regrets is that why was I introduced to this engaging, thought provoking and informative publication in only the last year or so.
