Letter: The Misinterpretation or Bending of Rules at Ash is Totally Farcical

Cllrs Helen and Tony Gorham

From: Kevin Allen

In response to: Parish Council Fails to Explain Councillors’ Six-month Absence

Can somebody please explain how living 60 miles away from Ash Vale Cllrs Tony and Helen Gorham are able to keep up to date with what’s happening in the area and how local people are being affected by local problems and issues?

This would be like ringing Wiltshire police to deal with anti-social problems instead of Surrey. It seems somewhat selfish that they still consider themselves local while somebody else, who lives in Ash Vale, could be elected and do a far better job by being on the patch.

Having, in the past, voted for Cllr Manning I think his response is unacceptable and this whole situation should be dealt with straight away. Favouritism has no place in politics and the misinterpretation or bending of rules is totally farcical.

Editor’s note: The election of All Ash Parish councillors was uncontested in 2019. But votes for Cllr Manning could have been cast in recent borough and county council elections.
