Leading member of Guildford’s Peace Party
As a footnote to Ben Paton’s letter: White Poppies Should Not Be In Opposition to Tradition, the Peace Party – Non-violence, Justice, Environment was established in time to contest the Guildford Parliamentary Constituency in 1997 and has contested every general election in that seat since.
It has also stood in the last three European Parliamentary Elections in the South East England Region and in numerous council seats.
Over the years, various other constituencies around the country have had Peace Party candidates ranging from Stirling and Middlesbrough to Horsham and Eastleigh.
The Peace Party website sets out clearly where the party stands on all issues including the replacement of militarism with systems that will ensure the safety and security of everyone – without the need to kill or threaten to kill.
The Peace Party also has a presence on Facebook and Twitter allowing commentary to be made on current issues.

The First World War was supposed to be the war to end wars.
Look what happened after that.
We had little choice but to fight to restore peace.

The Peace Party should study the history of Poland. If it had had a nuclear deterrent then the Germans and the Russians might have left it alone. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_war_crimes
If William Hague had not encouraged Ukraine to give up its nuclear weapons in exchange for a worthless “guarantee” Russia, probably, would not be fighting in Eastern Ukraine today.
