Letter: Use The Dragon Comments to Tell us of Plants For Sale

From Wendy Johnson

If local nurseries wanting quick sale and removal of products they should announce themselves on this medium via [please use the Leave a Reply feature below]. There are bound to be takers.

I should like to buy shrubs and vegetable seeds for my small plot and I’m hindered by the closure of nurseries.

Let’s get together (two metres apart, of course).

Are there any plant suppliers doing online sales to the public with delivery locally?

The trouble is the garden centres are not geared up for packing and postage. It takes a lot of resource and equipped businesses are few and far between.

The growers deal with garden centres and this is a dreadful situation for them especially. A tragic situation made worse by it happening at this time of year. If we could buy seeds it would not be too late – but where?

Sutton Green Nursery on the Guildford Rd into Woking are open and has a limited stock of plants for sale. Also Elm Nursery on Sutton Green are open don’t know what stock they have but worth a try.

Shopkeepers are getting around the transmission problem by packing small quantities in carrier bags and meeting customers on the doorstep. Payment can be made in advance using debit cards over the phone.

Nurseries finding it difficult to pack items for the post could overcome this problem by involving their children in creating appropriate size boxes for mailing.

I would like to buy some planted hanging baskets, begonias, geraniums, new guinea busy lizzies and multi-purpose compost.

Could any local suppliers deliver to GU2 9YP?
