In the dim, distant past, I too have crossed swords with Mr Lyon on planning issues, but the present case is one of the pot calling the kettle black.

Robin Horsley’s internet campaign before the May local elections was Trumpian in the worst sense and did direct damage to our local democracy. The propaganda techniques he used in his videos as a professional film-maker to manipulate public opinion, discredit some parties and boost others, were unscrupulous and nauseating.

Fortunately, attention-seekers can now be ignored. Whatever the merits of his case, he stands discredited and is no longer of any account in the decision-making process on North Street.
