In response to: Millbrook Floral Troughs Vandalised, ‘Utterly Senseless’ Says MP
Oh that we could bring back the stocks for these vandals.
Just a minute, there are some, by St Mary’s Church in Shalford. Surely a tempting idea for a suitable punishment.
Also useful for the graffiti “artists” who have sprung up recently and mindlessly deface public and private property.
Editor’s note: Stocks and pillories are often confused, though not by Mr Williams. Pillories are further up the medieval punishment rankings. Whereas stocks hold the legs, pillories hold the neck and wrists.

Perhaps we should introduce them for wayward planners consultants and councillors?

First, you have to catch them. The town centre is awash in surveillance cameras. I am happy to kick off a reward fund with £100 for information leading to a successful prosecution resulting in actual jail time and not just a metaphorical slap on the wrist. Anyone care to join me?
