In response to: Five Guildford GP Surgeries Targeted For Possible Closure In Health Services Revamp
Woodbridge Hill Surgery is remaining open for registrations. (https://www.woodbridgehillsurgery.co.uk/)
However, the pressures on general practice are considerable within our town. We all need to come together to create a service that meets everyone’s needs.
We need to create the right sort of facility (new “super-surgery” for primary care that firstly, and most importantly, meets the needs of patients and their carers but also to attract GPs, nurses and other health professionals and support staff to come and work in. Recruitment for many Guildford practices is also a considerable challenge.
It is likely that a larger facility will do this better. I say this as a medical practitioner in the town (of over 32 years) who also plans to live here in my retirement.

This would be the same reasoning that Cranleigh village hospital was set to be closed 15 plus years ago but wasn’t because it is still needed and is still open. It’s all too easy to close down services and hope for a replacement to appear. Perhaps keeping opening and building a replacement before closure would be a better order of action.
