In response to: Marking 75th Anniversary of Fatal Aircraft Crash At Jacobs Well With A Podcast

It really was a delight to listen to David Rose speaking all about the story of the four American airmen who sadly lost their lives in the air crash. Very poignant on the 75th anniversary. Many of us will remember them and all those who have died as a result of war this November 11.

One of the 20 men on the Worplesdon Second World War roll of honour is a young pilot officer, one of five from different areas of England, who died just 18 years old when their Whitley V plane crashed in 1942. His family had those very special words written on his gravestone in France his final resting place: “At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.”

As David reminded us, Worplesdon Parish Council will remember them all at 11am on Monday, November 11 in Harry’s Meadow, just behind Jacobs Well Village Hall. Of course anyone is very welcome to join us at the wreath laying event which will start at 10.45am.
