For older people, if you enjoy talks on local history, there is still time to book to hear historians David Rose and Carol Brown who are giving talks at the Holiday at Home event at Guildford Baptist Church.
The event returns to the church centre in Millmead from Tuesday to Thursday, July 20 to 22.
David and Carol’s illustrated talks are based on “a trip down memory lane”. Carol will be looking at Guildford’s former shops and businesses during her talk on Tuesday morning, July 20. While on Wednesday morning, July 21, David will be featuring Guildford’s entertainment as it used to be in the 1950s and 60s: youth activities, cinemas, pubs and clubs, the music scene, Guildford City Football Club, and more.
Other events at Holiday at Home includes a workshop, How Does Your Garden Grow, hosted by Andy Mckenzie and Dave Wright, plus films, dancing, singalongs and games, as well as lunch and afternoon tea and cakes.
The cost is just £7.50 per day, or £21 for the three days.
Booking forms are available from the church office or click here for online booking.
