The ‘Make Festival’ is on at Watts Gallery on Saturday and Sunday, September 22 and 23. Free with admission!
You can become a Watts apprentice. Make your mark by rolling up your sleeves, grabbing an apron and collecting the maker’s marks from each activity to create a special memento of your day’s work.
The great G F and Mary Watts were makers. They founded Watts Gallery and the Artists’ Village to teach young artists, to share ideas and to build a creative community that was open to all.
Their vision continues even today at the Watts Gallery.
In 2016, we opened the Watts Studios and have since welcomed visitors to the spaces where the Wattses lived and worked.
The Make Festival is our celebration of making and you can join us.
Our inaugural celebration of the art of making begins on Saturday and Sunday, September 22 and 23, from 11am to 5pm.
You will discover about the techniques and processes of craft, architecture and makers in this weekend of workshops, demonstrations and talks.
There will be a huge amount to see and make for yourself. It ranges from architecture, illustrating your own life story, animation, clay, printing, textiles and noise!
You will be able to see demonstrations by professional makers and craftspeople and talks throughout the weekend from history, tools and materials of the framing industry to stone carving of letters on memorials.
The Artists’ Village has always been a place for makers to thrive. Follow in the footsteps of the Wattses and become a maker. Bring the whole family to join in the fun.
