Man Left Unconscious Following Town Centre Assault

police vestAn 18-year-old man was was knocked unconscious in a serious assault in Bedford Road, to the rear of Casino Club, between 3.30 and 3.45am on Sunday, October 18.

He was taken to hospital with injuries to his head. Detectives are now appealing for further witnesses.

The attack on the young man took place following an altercation with four men one of whom made the assault.

Detective Constable Susie Ridgewell from West Surrey CID, said: “Although the incident took place in the early hours of Sunday morning the town centre was still busy and I am hopeful that someone heading home after a night out may have seen something.

“I am urging any members of public who may have seen this unprovoked assault or the circumstances leading up to it to contact police – you may hold a vital detail which could help us locate the offender and bring him to justice. Alternatively, the independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.

“This type of behaviour will not be tolerated and Surrey Police will do everything possible to maintain Guildford town centre as a safe and pleasant environment for people to enjoy a night out.”
