Two robbers who raided a mobile phone shop have been jailed after being hunted down by police.

Just after 11am on Sunday, May 3, 2026, Joziah Carey-Nichols and Ousman Faal charged into a mobile phone shop in the Peacock Centre, Woking wearing masks.

They forcibly grabbed a member of staff and demanded she open the locked cage at the rear of the shop where expensive handsets were kept.  They then shoved handsets worth more than 13k into a bag and fled.

After multiple enquiries including trawling through CCTV, ANPR and, ironically, phone data , investigating officers were able to identify the pair and trace them to London.

The two offenders then got their own unwanted visit when officers knocked in their front doors to arrest them both for robbery and false imprisonment.

In the face of overwhelming evidence, Carey-Nichols and Faal, both 22, from Lewisham, pleaded guilty to robbery and were sentenced to prison at Guildford Crown Court. Faal was given a prison sentence of three years and Carey-Nichols two and a half years.

PC Luke Lightburn, from Surrey Police’s Proactive Investigation Team, said: “No one deserves to go into work and be threatened and intimidated and I can only imagine how frightening this was for the shop staff.

“Our team worked tirelessly to piece together all the evidence, pursue these criminals into London and bring the consequences of their offences right back to their own front door.”
