Doreen and Brian Smith organised a fundraising event for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) last weekend at the Fairlands Community Centre.

Doreen and Brian Smith (red sweat shirts), with the Mayor and Mayoress of Guildford, Mike and Jean Parsons.

They were ably supported by fellow members of the BHF committee and volunteers all of whom helped to raise valuable funds thanks to members of the public who bought many items that were on sale.

The event was opened by the Mayor of Guildford, Mike Parsons, who was accompanied by his wife Jean, the Mayoress. After the official opening they visited all the stallholders.

On sale at one of the stalls were tickets for a charity concert entitled Last Night of the Proms, being held at 7.30pm on Saturday, October 20, at St Mary’s Church, Worplesdon, featuring the award winning Friary Guildford Brass Band. See flyer below for details and ticket prices.

The proceeds from the concert are going to the British Heart Foundation and the Churches of Worplesdon Parish.

A note for your diary: The next BHF fundraising event is on Friday, November 9, at the Holiday Inn, Guildford.
