Mentoring Event Aimed at Helping Business Chiefs

Following last year’s success, the Surrey branch of the Institute of Directors (IoD) is once again launching its mentoring programme in collaboration with managing director (MD) membership organisation, MD2MD.

The workshop-style events are peer mentoring meetings aimed at MDs based in Surrey.

Being an MD can be a lonely role, so discussing and sharing the challenges of running a business with peers in a confidential environment is a very powerful, practical and enjoyable way of developing confidence, skills and competence as a leader. And the real bonus of these facilitated peer groups is that all the experts are fellow business leaders.

Robert May, IoD Surrey branch acting chairman and MD of local IT company ramsac, said: “Managing directors are generally expected to know all the answers and lead with a great deal of expertise, skill and confidence. And while few are shrinking violets, most recognise they don’t quite know all the answers and aren’t always as confident as they portray. The idea of these sessions is to share advice and experience, and to complement this we kick-off each one with a short talk from a thought-provoking external speaker.”

So, if you’re an MD of an established Surrey business with 10 to 500 staff looking to lead your business to greater success, and are enthusiastic about business and leadership and how to raise your game, the MD2MD programme is for you.

The sessions run across five mornings – see below – with the first taking place at the ramsac offices in Godalming. The cost is an all-inclusive £750+VAT which under normal commercial terms would typically cost £7,000.
