A Perry Hill, Worplesdon resident, who lives near St Mary’s Church, saw a fallen beech tree early on Monday morning and returned with a chainsaw to clear the debris.
The tree, in the garden of a house adjoining the churchyard, fell in the high winds during the night, and lay on the path to the church.
The neighbour was walking their dog at about 6.30pm, and with permission from the church, did the good deed.
Perry Hill resident Geoff Burch took these photos. He said the tree appears to have had a rotten bit in the centre and the high winds did the rest.
