A new Turkish restaurant in Worplesdon Road, Woodbridge Hill was opened by Guildford’s MP Angela Richardson on Friday, May 20.
About 200 customers, friends and well wishers came throughout the day to celebrate the launch.
Timur Dinc, ages 21, part owner with his uncle, Azmi Dinc, said: “It was so good. We didn’t expect that many to turn up. We were delighted.
“Business has been great so far, much better than expected. We were completely booked up last weekend.”
Angela Richardson said new small and family-run businesses were vital to the success of Guildford, both socially and economically, adding: “I am so pleased to be able to be here today to support Lezzet and I would encourage local people to come along and do the same.
“I’ve enjoyed some amazing sweet treats and some lovely tea and I know the restaurant does takeaways so I’m sure that will prove extremely popular.
“I want to congratulate everyone involved – the owners, operators, and staff here – and I want to wish them all every success in the future. I promise that I will be popping in on my way back from a late night sitting in Parliament!”
The restaurant is at 12a Worplesdon Road GU2 9SH and is open from 2pm to 11pm (midnight on Thursday, Friday and Saturday).
