Audiences are invited to embrace the festive season and join the Surrey Hills choirs for two concerts of traditional and contemporary songs and carols this Christmas.

The first concert is billed as a family-friendly event for everyone, including very young children.

Featuring performers from the age of five to 65, from all four of the Surrey Hills Choirs – the Training Choir, Young Voices, Singers and Chamber Choir, the Family Christmas Concert will be held at 2pm on Sunday, December 8 at Cranleigh Village Hall. The programme will include performances to showcase each choir individually, as well as the choirs combining to sing.

Highlights in the first half will include a medley from The Jungle Book sung by the children, while the Training Choir will take the audience back in time with their rendition of My Favourite Things from The Sound of Music.

Young Voices will sing a selection of songs from the musical ‘Annie’ and the Surrey Hills Singers will share a group of well-known songs, including White Winter Hymnal and Puttin’ on the Ritz. Finally, the Surrey Hills Chamber Choir will perform a selection of songs including Only in Sleep by Ēriks Esĕnvalds.

The second half of the concert will take you into the festive season with a variety of Christmas songs and carols. Interspersed with traditional audience carols, the choirs will perform a selection of Christmas favourites.

If you’ve been thinking about joining one of the choirs, this is an opportunity to come along and see them in action.

At 8pm on the evening of Sunday, December 8, the adult choirs will join together for their Candlelit Concert at St Nicolas Church, Bury Street, Guildford.

In addition to the songs sung that afternoon in Cranleigh, the two choirs will sing additional items.

Tickets for Sunday afternoon cost £12 for adults and £3 for children (16 and under). Tickets for Sunday evening cost £12 for adults and £5 for children.

Tickets for both concerts include a programme, wine and refreshments and are available to purchase online at www.surreyhills-choirs.co.uk until 9pm the night before the performance.

After the online ticketing closes, email graham.webb@tangleweave.co.uk or call 07513 523933.

Early booking is advised for these popular concerts.
