A new musical, based on a true local story, will preview at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford.

Ferguson’s Gang is presented by Derbyshire-based theatre company Echo Time – Musicals with a Meaning and will run from Thursday, September 13 to Saturday, September 15, with support from local National Trust staff. Performances are timed to take place during Heritage Open Days/Open Week.

It’s the era of the Great Gatsby. Stonehenge is under threat. What can a group of unfranchised girls do to save it?

Forming the secret, masked, Ferguson’s Gang they start a campaign of heritage protection from Shalford Mill to the Isle of Wight, from Sherwood Forest to the Cornish coastline.

Despite desperate personal problems the battles last their lifetimes. Huge sums are raised that enable the trust to impede the tentacles of creeping urban development.
