Auctioneers Stanley Gibbons Baldwin’s and Baldwins Bullion will be at All Saints’ Church, Vicarage Gate, Onslow Village GU2 7QJ, on Wednesday, January 29, 10.30am to 3.30pm, when people can bring along items for free valuations.

These include stamps, coins, trading cards and items of gold.

Email valuationday@sgbaldwins.com to book an appointment.

The auctioneers say Stanley Gibbons is known as “the home of stamp collecting” and Baldwin’s “the experts in coins, medals and militaria”.

In recent months these auctioneers say they have had the pleasure of dealing with some fascinating items from Surrey.

Late 18th century Guildford halfpenny.

Included was a late 18th century Guildford halfpenny, featuring on one side Bishop Blaze, the patron saint of woolcombers, and a woolpack, and on the reverse the arms of the town.

This item sold for £132 (including fees) when it went to auction in October.
