Guildford Choral, and internationally acclaimed Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, will combine forces to perform Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis – a work which stands as one of the towering masterpieces of the late Classical period – at G Live on Saturday, March 18.
Members of the Brussels Choral Society will also be singing, ahead of Guildford Choral performing with them in Brussels in April.
Scored for large chorus, four soloists and orchestra, the Missa Solemnis towers above all other settings of liturgical texts in the early nineteenth century, and Beethoven himself considered it to be his ‘true masterpiece’.
Jonathan Willcocks will conduct and soloists include Claire Seaton, Diana Moore, Thomas Hobbs and Timothy Nelson.
Tickets are priced from £22.50 (concessions available) and can be booked from G Live by calling 01483 369350 or visiting GLive.co.uk. Tickets are also available from Guildford Choral’s website guildfordchoral.org.
