A Guildford befriending charity wants to spread the message that no one has to feel alone at this time.
Guildford Community Angels works with adults of all ages to combat loneliness, isolation or to befriend those who are ill or with other personal difficulties.
The trained volunteers would usually visit people in their homes but due to the coronavirus pandemic the service is now via telephone.
Rachel Guilford, project co-ordinator at Community Angels which is run by the Guildford Town Centre Chaplaincy, said loneliness affects everyone: “You’re not alone, we want to be alongside you in whatever you’re facing and we’re happy to listen.
“Don’t wait until it’s a crisis, don’t wait until things are really bad.
“We all have difficult times, you don’t have to think ‘I’m a burden’ or ‘things are worse for someone else’. We all need each other.”
To speak to one of the community angels, call 07825 799309 between 12pm and 2pm, Monday to Friday, but you can leave a message outside those hours. You can also email on gfd.communityangels@gmail.com
Anybody who wants to volunteer and become a community angel can do so by calling the same number, or emailing gfd.communityangels@gmail.com.
