Those heading for the Farmers' Market today had to negotiate this sandy grit spread to absorb oil spilt by a council vehicle this morning
Oil was left spread across the road at the junction of the High Street and Quarry Street this morning (May 1). A council sweeper vehicle had broken down with its its hydraulic system fractured.
Other council workers were summoned to spread sand/grit on the affected areas however no one was available to sweep up the sand before vehicles spread it down Quarry Street. At 5pm it continued to present a messy obstacle to pedestrians. It is expected that a clear up will take place tomorrow morning.
