The Guildford Institute was delighted to welcome the outgoing High Sheriff of Surrey, Jim Glover, launch its summer special event programme.

In one of his final official engagements Mr Glover joined an audience of members and non-members to reflect on his achievements.

Pictured with the outgoing High Sheriff of Surrey, Jim Glover, is the manager of the Guildford Institute, Amy Rice (left) and trustee Janet Crowe.

Throughout his busy year in office he has taken on the traditional part of his role supporting those carrying out law and order in Surrey, as well as focusing on ensuring that ‘no child in Surrey is lost to education.’

It was perhaps fitting therefore, that one of his last official appointments should be at the Guildford Institute, a centre of life-long learning in the heart of the local community for over 170 years.

Of his time at the Institute, Mr Glover said that it was “a great opportunity to thank volunteers; share thoughts with an enthusiastic audience and attempt to answer some very insightful questions indeed!”

There are plenty more events happening at the Guildford Institute over the summer term.
