Passenger Seriously Hurt in Head-on Collision

A head-on collision between silver Toyota Rav 4 and a green Suzuki Jimny, left a passenger seriously injured last night (October 11, 2018).

The incident took place around 6.55pm on the Aldershot Road near the junction with Rydes Hill Road.

A male passenger from one of the vehicles was taken to St George’s Hospital in Tooting with serious injuries after being cut free by fire crews. Both drivers suffered minor injuries and were taken to the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford.

The road remained closed while the investigation into the circumstances of the collision took place.

A resident who lives neabysaid: “I passed that way minutes before it happened.

“The road there has become terrible. No surface cracks but dangerous dips and bumps. If you drive over the speed limit chances are you will roll your vehicle.”

In a press release, a spokesperson for Surrey Police said: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or with any information to come forward.   Officers are also keen to see any dashcam or helmet footage from vehicles that may have been travelling along that road prior to the collision.
