A 45-year-old man has been jailed for 26 weeks after police in an unmarked car witnessed his dangerous driving in Guildford.
The incident began when Danny Keet, who was driving in a designated bus lane in Woodbridge Road, asked the officers if he could cut in front of them – not realising they were police.
Then he made off from the scene, drove over a kerb and into street furniture, jumped a red light, and then turned right into oncoming traffic. He abandoned the vehicle but next day he was located and arrested.
The incident happened on Tuesday, April 8, and he appeared at Guildford Magistrates Court yesterday (Thursday).
Keet, from Guildford, was charged with one count of dangerous driving, one count of driving without insurance and one count of driving without a licence.
Apart from the jail sentence, he was disqualified from driving for a year.
Keet pleaded guilty to the offences after being presented with police dashcam footage.
