Police Investigation Launched Following a Report of Rape

An investigation has been launched following a report of rape said to have occurred yesterday evening (February 29) at around 6.30pm in an alleyway off  The Chase, Guildford.

Officers have been carrying out enquiries near the area where the incident took place. It was earlier cordoned off but the cordon has subsequently been lifted.

T/Detective Inspector Heather Jenkins said: “All reports of this nature are taken extremely seriously and an investigation is under way to establish what happened. This includes conducting house-to-house enquiries in the area and checking CCTV.

“At this time I would ask that if you saw anyone acting suspiciously in this area, or have information that could be relevant, please contact us as soon as possible.”

The victim is being appropriately supported by specially trained sexual offences liaison officers.

A police spokesperson said: “If you have any information which could help, please contact us and quote ref PR/45240023916.”
