Praise For ‘An Outstanding Musician’ As She Prepares For New Post at Winchester

Guildford Cathedral has announced that Katherine Dienes-Williams, their Organist and Master of the Choristers, has been appointed Director of Music at Winchester Cathedral. She will take up her new role in July.

Paying tribute to Katherine, the Cathedral said she is an outstanding musician who has inspired generations of choristers, “nurturing young singers with warmth, wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to musical excellence.”

The Dean of Guildford, the Very Reverend Bob Cooper, said: “We offer Katherine our warmest congratulations on this wonderful appointment. Winchester is gaining a truly gifted musician and an inspiring leader. Whilst she will be deeply missed by all of us at Guildford, we send her with our heartfelt thanks for everything she has given to this cathedral community and our prayers for this exciting new chapter in her ministry.”

The Cathedral said Katherine’s tenure at Guildford Cathedral has been marked by musical programmes of the highest calibre, from the daily round of choral services to memorable concerts and recordings. “Her warmth and generosity of spirit have touched everyone who has had the privilege of working alongside her.”
