Experience Guildford, along with the town centre’s shops and businesses, will celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday by creating imaginative and colourful royal inspired shop window displays for shoppers and visitors to enjoy.

Queen90BirthdayIt says Guildford town centre will be “turned into a backdrop of bunting, flags, crowns and corgis as retail and leisure businesses raise the royal standard of their window displays and pay homage to our longest living monarch”.

The royal inspired shop windows will be on display from June 1 to 20, during which time visitors to the town will have a chance to vote for their favourites on the Experience Guildford Facebook page.

The participating businesses will also be visited and voted for by a panel of independent judges who will assess and score each window on how well the design follows the Queen’s birthday theme, the innovation of the design and material used and the design with the best use of space.

Experience GuildfordAmanda Masters, general manager at Experience Guildford, said: “This is the third year that we have run a themed window dressing competition and each year we are delighted and astounded both by how many of our businesses get behind the campaign and the imagination that they display in their windows.

“This year it seemed fitting to theme the competition around the Queen’s birthday and we can’t wait to see what our shops and businesses will have to offer.

“Campaigns such as this make a real point of difference to our town and show that by working together, Experience Guildford and the business improvement district members can do much to add character and charm to our streets, maintaining our position as one of the most attractive shopping destinations in the South East.”
