The world renowned Russian State Ballet and Opera House is coming to Guildford to perform some of the world’s greatest and best loved ballets – The Nutcracker and Don Quixote.
The performances at Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre promise to feature an impressive cast and will be accompanied by a large live orchestra with more than 30 musicians.
The performances will be:
Tuesday, November 3, Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker – the eternal favourite about a nutcracker doll which turns into a prince…. It is full of familiar music such as The Waltz of the Flowers and the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
Wednesday, November 4, Don Quixote – acknowledged to be a wonderfully entertaining ballet based on episodes from the famous Don Quixote de la Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes.
It is an enchanting story of a noble old gentleman Don Quixote, whose dreams of brave knights and beautiful ladies take him on a chivalrous adventure. Expect love, duels and spectacular choreography mixed with a dash of Spanish passion in this most beautiful ballet.
Each ballet is directed and choreographed by former Bolshoi Theatre Ballet Dancer, Konstantin Uralsky, who has been creating ballets for over 20 years. Now, as the company’s artistic director, he will bring his unique style and talent to the performances.
The Russian ballet and opera company will be touring the UK from mid October to end of November 2015. The tour is being promoted by Amande Concerts Ltd who will be bringing a staggering 250 artists and performers from the Russian State Ballet and Opera House to the UK for the 2015 tour.
