Stagecoach South has launched its annual Santa Bus, spreading festive cheer across Guildford throughout December.
The bus is raising money for Shooting Star Children’s Charity, an organisation that provides specialist care free of charge to babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions. The charity supports families from the point of diagnosis, through end-of-life care, and beyond into bereavement.
The bus has been decorated for the holiday season and will be appearing on a range of local services in the days leading up to Christmas. Passengers travelling across Guildford can look out for sparkling snowflakes, colourful festive greetings and even a visit from Santa Claus.
Based in Surrey, Shooting Star Children’s Charity runs two purpose-built hospices: Christopher’s in Guildford, and Shooting Star House in Hampton. Services include respite stays, symptom management, therapies, family support and emergency respite care.
For families who have lost a child, the charity offers a specialist bereavement service, including counselling, arts and play therapy, and support groups for siblings and parents, available for several years following a child’s death.
Buckets for cash donations are available on board the Santa Bus for anyone who wishes to support the charity’s work.
Marc Reddy, Managing Director at Stagecoach South, said: “Our Santa Bus is one of our favourite traditions and it brings joy to customers of all ages across Guildford.
“We’re proud to support Shooting Star Children’s Charity this year. Their work makes a real difference to people in our communities, especially during the holidays. We hope everyone who spots the Santa Bus feels a little of that festive magic, and if they can, helps us raise funds for a truly important cause.”
