Council Offices at Millmead Where the Suspended Officers Worked

The tight lipped response, “We are unable to comment on staffing matters,” continues to be the policy at Guildford Borough Council in the wake of last week’s reported suspensions of two senior officers, one of whom is understood to have been a Strategic Director, second only in seniority to the Chief Executive, David Hill.

Council Officers are not normally suspended unless suspected of “gross misconduct” but council spokespersons have refused to comment further.

Corroborated reports have been received by The Guildford Dragon that two senior officers, based at Millmead, have been suspended by Guildford Borough Council.

A council spokesperson said, “We are unable to comment on staff matters.”

Council Officers are normally only suspended, usually on full pay, where “gross misconduct” is suspected to have taken place. No details of any accusations are known nor is it known whether the matter has been referred to the police.
