The Shahin restaurant on Woodbridge Hill has presented a cheque for £1,300 to the Mayor of Guildford, for his charity fund.

The owner of the Shahin Tandoori restaurant, Yameem Deedar, presents the Mayor of Guildford, Gordon Jackson, with a cheque for £1,300 for his charity fund.

It was raised at the tandoori restaurant’s charity night in November.

Restaurant owner Yameem Deedar said: “So many people came and supported this event and for their support we were able to raise £1,300. We encourage others to attend future such events.”|

Writing to Mr Deedar after the evening, the Mayor, Gordon Jackson, wrote: “Thank you for your amazing generosity in hosting us. Everybody I spoke to thoroughly enjoyed the evening and went out of their way to praise you and your staff and the fantastic food that you provided.

“It really was a superb occasion and I am delighted that we have been able to raise much needed funds for the Surrey Cancer Research Institute.

“I know that they will put the money to good use as they continue the wonderful work they are doing to improve cancer care across a wide band of disciplines.”
