Tucked away in Chapel Street (GU1 3UL), just off Guildford High Street, The Whisky Shop offers a huge range of whiskys, other spirits, cigars and gifting items.
But the speciality is clearly whisky. “Our motto is ‘unlocking the mystery of whisky’. We un-complicate the apparently complicated.
“We speak in plain language and our service is legendary. You leave us with confidence in your purchase and with a little more knowledge of this beautiful product.”
As one of 21 branches across the UK, The Whisky Shop has been in Guildford 12 years. The manager, Vicki, said: “We sell unique, different and interesting whiskies you won’t find in supermarkets, but also gin, rum, cognac, tequila, mescal, and also cigars and gifting items.”
The range is dazzling with Scottish, English, Irish and Welsh whiskies as well as Japanese, Taiwanese, Danish and then, American bourbon.
A full size 70cl bottle can start at around £44 up to the Port Ellen 1983 selling at £2,800. The reason for the price is: “The distillery doesn’t exist any longer”, says Vicki.
Vicki added: “We can satisfy your price range and taste and if we haven’t got it, we will try and source it. We have many regular customers who come for their favourite whiskies or even just gifts.
“We have an auction site as well and people can sell or buy through our site or our online store.”
And a last word from Vicki: “Often people are a bit nervous to come in because they don’t know quite what they want. We can help. There is a dram here for everyone.”
