Silver Swans Adult Ballet Classes launches on May 14 at the Guildford Institute, Ward Street, GU1 4LH, on Tuesdays 10.10am to 11am during term time.

Whether you danced as a child and have always wanted to go back to it, or simply wish to try ballet, these are the classes for you.

Dance can help you develop muscular strength, balance, co-ordination, correct posture, and improve your cardio fitness, alongside of course the mental health benefits of exercise.

It also increases your energy levels, helps to reduce stress and can support weight loss.

Silver Swans was launched in 2017 by the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) to assist the growing adult dance market with Angela Rippon selected as its ambassador.

The classes in Guildford will be led by Suzanne, a former professional ballerina with over 20 years of qualified teaching experience. She has trained as one of the RAD Silver Swan teachers and offers classes in the Surrey and Berkshire area.

Suzanne said: “I am excited about starting classes in Guildford. I want to open up the world of ballet to adults, especially to the over 50s. My classes will be friendly and all levels, from complete beginners and upwards, are very welcome.”

The Silver Swan classes around the country are showing that there is no excuse for getting more active and, whatever your age, dance can play a vital role in ensuring a longer and better quality of life.
