Eleven enthusiastic skydivers jumped out of a plane over Salisbury Plain recently, raising £3,555 for the charity Headway Surrey.
The brave first-time skydivers were from Merrist Wood Public Services Group and the Godalming Naval Club.
Maggee Fulleylove, Finance and Admin Manager of Headway Surrey and a member of the Godalming Naval Club said “It was a day mixed with tension and laughter. The skydivers showed great bravery and true community spirit.
I am delighted they all overcame their nerves and managed to complete the jump successfully, raising an incredible amount in the process. All the skydivers had a huge sense of achievement, and I am very proud of them all.”
Headway Surrey is now inviting others to experience this thrilling activity and in doing so, raise funds for them which will be used to provide cognitive rehabilitation therapy for adults with acquired or traumatic brain injury.
Potential skydivers must first raise £395 to book their jump – which can be at an airfield of their choice, and on a date to suit them – and then raise the additional funding which will go directly to Headway Surrey.
In Surrey alone, over 20,000 people are suffering from the effects of a brain injury at any time. It is not only the victims who are affected – it threatens and changes the way of life of the people closest to them.
If you, or anyone you know, has suffered from an acquired or traumatic brain injury, or if their families and friends need support in caring for someone, and supporting their cognitive rehabilitation, Headway encourages them to get in touch.
