Free weekly walks taking in Whitmoor Common and the River Wey at Stoke, begin this Friday, January 30, at 11.30am.
This Friday’s one-hour walk starts from the Lockwood Centre, Westfield Road, Slyfield Estate, GU1 1RR.
Further walks will start from the Jolly Farmer pub car park off Burdenshott Road, Worplesdon, GU3 3RN. Optional coffee afterwards.
First week of the month: Whitmoor Common. An easy walk in the woodland from the Jolly Farmer pub car park. Can be quite muddy in the winter months.
Week 2: To the Riverside Nature Park. An easy walk from the Lockwood Centre.
Week 3: Whitmoor Common. An easy walk in the woodland from the Jolly Farmer pub car park.
Week 4: To Stoke Lock and the Riverside Nature Park lake. An easy walk from the Lockwood Centre.
Should there be five weeks in the month, walk 3 will be repeated.
The walks are being organised by Annelize Kidd on behalf of the Walking for Health scheme.
She said: “Walking makes you happy and keeps you healthy. Over 70,000 people walk with Walking for Health regularly. We’ll support you to get started too. Just come along. It’s free! Wear waterproof footwear, bring a raincoat on rainy days and set out as every step matters.”
